Apollo Victoria Theatre

95 years on since it was first built, the Apollo Victoria Theatre’s façades on Vauxhall Road Bridge and Wilton Road have shown signs of damp and water ingress, loose concrete render and failing masonry. In 2023, ATG commissioned a condition survey to identify areas of concern and to produce a scope of works.

In July 2023, ARK23 was selected to appoint the design team and put together a tender for repair and decoration works for the façade. This required listed building consent and various permits to erect scaffolding to both elevations and the suspension of some buses and taxis. Our work commenced on 15th April 2024 and is due to complete on 25th October. The scope of works include:

  • Specialist cleaning to the stonework
  • Repairs to cracks and spalling to the concrete
  • Repointing of joints
  • Repairs and decorations to the windows
  • Specialist coating to the stonework
  • Specialist repairs and decorative panels
  • Repair or relocation of the bass relief panel if required from survey results
  • Repairs to the capping
  • Repairs to the canopy on Vauxhall Bridge Road

Built in 1929 with doors first opened in 1930, the Apollo Victoria Theatre has seen a lot over the last 95 years. It was grade II* listed in 1972 and since 2006 has been the home to iconic musical Wicked.
